Weekly update letter

Dear church family                                                                                 Update: 23rd March 2020

We wanted to keep you updated following our decision last week to suspend all church activities for the next few weeks.

We have been continuing to listen and follow the advice given to us by our Government and feel that it is right to submit to those that God has placed in authority over us where they are seeking to protect us. (1 Peter 2:13 and Romans 13:1-2).

Yesterday (22nd March) we managed to stream a pre-recorded service and message for us to listen to in our homes and whilst it is sad that we cannot meet together, we continue to feel that this approach is both necessary and wise as we seek to protect the vulnerable and each other during this difficult and unusual time.
In light of the latest Government advice we have decided to suspend all church activities including Sunday services for the foreseeable future – probably until at least the end of April.

We still believe that meeting together is important (Hebrews 10:25) and although we cannot meet physically for fellowship, prayer and teaching, there are ways which we can continue to do this using technology.

We will continue to stream a pre-recorded service on Sunday mornings led by either Ben or Jon at 10:30am.  We are looking at ways of including things for the children, as well as some sung worship.  In the evening’s we will for the time being continue watching the teaching series from Paul Mallard (recorded at the Aber Conference) at 6:00pm.  Links will be posted on Facebook, WhatsApp and on our website.

We would normally meet for Bible Study and Prayer on a Tuesday at 7:45pm.  We are keen to continue to do this.  From this Tuesday (24th) we will be hosting a ‘Virtual Prayer Meeting’ via Zoom.  Further instructions will be given out about how to access this.  The prayer meeting will consist of a short devotional followed by prayer.

Pastoral care continues but in a different way.  Ben, Jon and Gary will be contacting those who are isolating or vulnerable, and Gareth and Yolande have set people up with buddies for regular support during this time.  If you need any support, or if you have any practical needs, please get in touch.

At this time, it looks likely that we will not be meeting together for our Easter services, we are considering our plans at the moment and will provide you with further updates in the next week or so.

We continue to navigate difficult and challenging times, there is much fear and uncertainty, however whilst we need to continue to take wise and considerate steps to do what we can, we also know that we serve an all-powerful Sovereign God, our lives are in His hands and in that we can take great comfort at this time.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time, it’s been a joy to be a part of so many encouragements and to see the church family loving and caring for each other as well as the wider community.

We will continue to monitor the Governments advice and make decisions accordingly, so we will continue to issue weekly updates to inform you of any changes.

With much love and prayer, on behalf of the church leaders.
